Ok guys so I have a weird situation and I'm totally stumped as to what is going on...
Today I went to pick up my rooster (Mr. Roo) to hold him under my arm, normally this is not an issue at all.... Today as soon as I picked him up he started wheezing and gasping like he couldn't breathe...
Can anyone please help me out. I'm freaking out a little bit...
I've seen Frontline spray recommended all over the place (BYC, local poultry groups, even my vet didn't question it when I mentioned it) for chickens to treat lice and mites. I've used it several times of the last few years with...
Wow, well it will be very interesting to see whether the egg I set under a hen tonight actually grows or not!
We do check for mites/lice etc regularly, especially at this time of year. My chickens always seem to get mites in summer so all the birds are treated for mites regularly throughout the...
I don't think our neighbours have ducks. I know our closest neighbour doesn't have any poultry, the other neighbour might have ducks (not to my knowledge though) but their house is a good 1km from our house...
We do have a small water spring at the very bottom of our 30 acre property where...

My family went away for a couple of weeks a while ago and the ducks had stashed some eggs.... That is the only possible situation I can think of. Normally we collect eggs daily.
I don't have pictures or any more info, sorry... Just going off what our friend has said.
Said friend is quite experienced in poultry and I think would know the difference between a blood spot/meat chunk and an embryo... she said she could see the beak...
I agree they all look like female...
Wasn't sure whether to put this in the duck forum or in the 'What breed/gender is this' forum... please move it if it's in the wrong spot!
We have 3 ducks... an Indian Runner X... A Pekin X and a Khaki Campbell. A friend buys eggs from them for eating. Said friend recently said she's had a...
Thank you all for your responses :)
To clear things up... I have two Silkie hens, the rooster who fathered this chick is purebred bantam Australorp. So the chick is at least half Australorp... The chick does not have 5 toes or black skin (I assume?). I thought the egg was bigger than a silkie...
