okay so its been a little less than a year since my hatch, which at first was very successful but as the chicks grew older we realized that we had seven roos to our two hens. Needless to say, we had to give the little guys away and are left now with our two hens. But tomorrow is a very good day...
Got our very first egg!! Not sure which hen it was but she was about 23 weeks the day she laid it... this is so exciting!! its a little smaller than an average egg but i expected that, but its perfect otherwise :)
im pretty sure the rest are cockerels.. at least i know they're all going to have long happy lives as pets :) i wish we could keep them but our town doesnt allow it
thats what i figured :( its going to be so hard having to give 6 of them away... i didnt post pics of all of them but they're the same or more developed than the rest of the cockerels...
thats what i thought... when they were very young they had some of the markings but didnt have the right leg color and im just so confused as to what breed they may be!
i have no experience with chickens so any opinions are appreciated! i have two chickens that are black and white and when they were younger i was told that they were EEs...
this is an updated version of one of my older posts... i cant believe how big my babies are! im pretty sure almost 6 out of 8 of my chickens are rosters :( the good news is that the person who sold us the hatching eggs said that she would take them and keep them as pets anyway if anyone can...
thanks! i actually tried scrambled eggs the other day and they LOVED them... hard boiling some eggs might be a better idea though so i can do it in advance... im sure they'd still like it :)
Adorable!! i have a chick with similar wing patterns as fluff but s/hes a little darker... this is how my chick feathered:
s/hes like black and white now... i have another very similar chick with the same dark stripe on his/her head and its head is turning black now, not white like this one
