It also depends upon the breed itself. I have found that a 1 - 10 ratio works good on my large breeds(RIR, brahmas, ect) but on some of my bantam breeds( like silkies ) a 1-5 ratio works better. What breed are you raising?

Initially they may quarrel a bit to establish order, but over a period of time you should be fine. If he is proven to be a gentle bird already, I think you'll be alright.

I wouldn't put the serama's in yet. Being a very small breed with a growth disadvantage, I would wait at least a week or 2 before you put them together.

Well there is no real way to fix it, but I would not breed her for show. I'd hate to see you through a bad gene into the line and have grade A show birds down the line that get DQ for the beak.

What are your intentions with this bird? Eggs, pet, meat, or for show? If it is just going to be for anything but breeding for a show flock, I would say he/she is fine.

Pharaoh quail generally take around 17 days to hatch. Depending on the size of your breeders and bloodstream it can be off +/- 1 day. I would suggest stop turning on the 14th day.

You also need to be careful when going from a high humidity to no humidity. If you think of a egg shell almost like skin, you can get what I mean. If the humidity gets to high the pores of the egg get filled with moisture. If you immediately take the humidity out, that moisture dries up and will...
It will have instructions with it. If I can recall all you need to do is run the power wire to the incubators power, ground to ground, and I can recall if it has a accessory or not. It's not all that bad. I remember just splicing in the cables and putting the electrical caps back on.

As long as you are storing them correctly, and getting a decent hatch rate then more power to ya My luck on the other hand seems to decline with time.
Thanks

Generally with silkies it is very hard to tell the sex. I've had supposed males before that laid eggs. The only true way is to sex them. Even then it is hard to tell imho. Have you ever sexed a chicken before? If you haven't then I would just let nature take it's tole and see what comes out of...
