AshVaz11, I bought lavs from Chicken Scratch Poultry, they have a website, blog and Facebook page. Their chicks are from the Hink JC line. My birds are almost 8 weeks old, everyone is healthy and big.
I know it is a bit early, but you know about curiosity and the cat. So to the point: I have about a dozen Lavender Orpington chicks from Chicken Scratch Poultry (Hink JC line). 2 are must be cockerels, most of the others have very small combs with flesh colored lines for wattles and 3 are...
My hubby thought he'd be funny. He says very home needs a family portrait. Anyway it is one more thing to confirm that high level of crazy going on over here.
Hi, everyone! I have been lurking and occasionally posting for some time now, but thought I should introduce myself. I'm Mainemaid because I live on the coast of Maine and many days I feel like the maid. If I'm not picking up after my husband and kids then I'm picking up after the clients at...
Has anyone bought lavender chicks from Chicken Scratch Poultry? If so how hard are they to sex? Mine are 3 weeks old and most of them look the same with regard to comb, waddles, feathering and legs. Fearful I might be rooster heavy.

White band: short wing feathers, no tail feather
Blue band: long...

Please keep us posted. I'm very interested in what you have. Just received my order of lavender babies last week (18 chicks). Would love to figure out which ones are boy and which ones are girls before Thanksgiving.
