Do roosters have a "favorite" hen?

Quote: Mine aren't mating, but she is always close to him. There are 3-4 others that hang around him sometimes, but she's always by him. I know they're still quite young, so I'm anxious to see how there relationship develops.

Do roosters have a "favorite" hen?

So, I'm new to the chicken raising thing. I don't know all of the "proper" terms & I'm not 100% sure of the type of chickens I have. We were told that 12 of our 25 chickens were Auracana (sp) hens. WELL...1 of them is a rooster. He's not so bad though. What's weird is that one of the other...

Hello from a city girl learning to live in the country!

Quote: Omgosh! It's the most enjoying thing I've ever done! If you'd have told me in March when my husband got the chickens that 5 months later, I would be the one feeding/watering & playing, yes playing with them, I would have told you that you were nuts! But, they are so fun!

Hello from a city girl learning to live in the country!

Quote: Nope, lol..at least not yet. Most of my friends live in the city, so right now I'm enjoying giving away eggs! (I'm not an egg eater & neither are my 2 kids, so 13-14 eggs a day is adding up fast!)

Hello from a city girl learning to live in the country!

Hi! I'm new to the whole chicken raising thing. I'm from Indianapolis, IN. I grew up in the city & all we ever had were cats & dogs. My husband grew up more in the country (no pigs or chicks or cows, but sort of out of town). He wanted to have land in the country, so we bought a house 2 yrs ago...
