We have a small flock of 5 hens, all the same age. We got them as bitty chicks, so they've always been together. Our leghorn just began laying on Sunday (and is already laying full size eggs, woohoo!), which is fantastic for us but doesn't seem to be going too hot for her.

The chickens slept in their new (but not totally finished) coop last night. There's very little better than knowing those adorable yet horrendously stinky and, at 6 weeks, huge chickies are no longer i my garage! They seem to be much happier, too.
Those of you with your coops already established, is it worth it to insulate? I'm trying to convince my husband it'll just add to the humid stank build-up in the winter, but he read that leghorns are particularly susceptible to cold weather. Don't want Marilyn's comb getting frozen off. She's...
Does anyone know where one can have a chick sexed in the Longmont area? My EE is about 3x the size of my other chicks, and way more... feisty. I'm a tad worried she may be going roo on me.
