We came home after picking up the kids, there was flash flooding and we found one of our babies had been attacked.
They have been perching on the coop by the pen’s fence, so my guess is it was attacked through the fence
We have heard iodine? What else can we do? I noticed an exposed bone...
ok so the next thing Im not extracting clearly is the ventilation everyone keeps talking about, where on the coop does this need to be placed?
I was just figuring more toward the top
so as it stands the roof is removable (and actually has been so I could modify it to add ventilation as you all are suggesting. Everything Im reading is that coop doesn't need to be taller than 2 feet with about 12" being the mid point for the roost.
as of now, the door embedded the fence side...
This is my modified coop and run.
Last year it was roughly 23 ' x 23'
and the coop was a design and plans I found on the web:
It was big and my wife was largely unhappy with the color and the pen. So I have followed her guidance on this build. She wanted smaller and the ability to access...
Awesome!
I was actually thinking of doing that. We downsized the coop from what we had, the run will be pretty sizable (8' x 20')
They will also be free range like our last flock. We never had any problems until the raccoon found her way in at night.
Rosemary was too scared to go in the coop...
Sure! Here is a couple the day we brought them home and some I just snapped of them in my brooder box!
I'd be very thankful if anyone could help me guess the age of them so I can better take care of them
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My wife grew up on a farm in Mississippi so she isnt new to them, we got our first eight (8) 3 years ago, of which, 1 remains - rehomed in MS at said farm due to a mother Raccoon invasion
(2) How many chickens do you have right...
