As requested: my coop and run for feedback, ideas, and pointers on what to do next

My biggest concern is that it looks  way too small for 6 birds. Minimum recommended specs is 4sq ft of floor space, 10sq ft of run, 1 ft of roost length, and 1sq ft of permanent ventilation per bird. More is always preferable. For 6 hens you really need at least 24sq ft in the coop, and remember you can't count any space taken up by nest boxes, feeders or waterers. Yes, even if they're free range. There may be reasons your chickens won't go outside such as weather or predators. And when that happens, because it will happen, you will probably see behavioral problems if you have less than the minimum recommended space.

ok so the next thing Im not extracting clearly is the ventilation everyone keeps talking about, where on the coop does this need to be placed?

I was just figuring more toward the top

Thank you.

so a few inches all the way around or... or is it to be installed?

wont this let out all of the heat from the heat lamp in the winter time?
I'm not sure how long and wide your coop is, but you will need 6 sq ft of ventilation for 6 chickens, so probably all the way around. You will not need a heat lamp for adult chickens. They thrive in cooler temperatures. Hot weather is much harder on them.

No heat lamp required for when it gets below zero/icy+wet?
