Hi, I have a bunch of chickens with pox right now, most are light cases but this two I brought inside bc they were severe. One of them is back to normal except for the big scab stuck in the comb. The other one has gotten worse. This is what she looked like 2 weeks ago:
And this is her now:
It...
Thanks everyone! I'll do that then, should I treat the whole flock just in case?
They're free range and autumn is just starting over here, so there's still lots of those everywhere. Also I've been digging lots of white grubs for them. Do you know if a quick boil will get rid of tapeworms in the...
Thank you! I'll get that as soon as I can, but do you know if albendazole works too?? It's all I have right now at home and I wanna treat this couple of babies as soon as possible because they're already weak with fowl pox
Thank you 🥲 No it was alone on a box with a heating pad on the side that never gets warmer that a hen's belly. I've done that before so I don't think it was that but I just found tapeworms on the poop of a chick I've been feeding grubs, uggggh maybe it was that, I'm gonna have to stop doing it...
Hi, I have a couple of young chickens with pox isolated from the flock inside the house, to keep them warm, and one of them just pooped this and I'm freaking out bc I've been super cuddly with them bc they look so sad 😫. What are they? I've only seen this kind of worms on dogs but bigger, on a...
It didn't but they're free range so moms usually take care of that, it should have had some left in their stomach, right? But still would that have killed it so fast? Unfortunately it died like 15 min after my post 😢 Also, mom wasn't dead, she appeared with her chickens, seems like they hid but...
Hi, yesterday night a relative brought me an orphan chick she found, about a couple days old I guess, to take care of. It was very active yesterday, drinking and eating. I gave it 3 alive white grubs yesterday and put it to bed with heat source. This morning it's lethargic, doesn't open it's...
Central Chile (I've heard it's similar to California weather) it's summer right now and we live close to a lake so yeah lots of mosquitoes. Fortunately it seems to be those two only 🤞🏻 Thanks for the suggestions! She's tolerating torpedo feeding so I'll do that
Hi, this hen has what I assume is dry fowl pox? It started about 2 weeks ago, she has a baby of 3 weeks who also got it but much less severe. I guess it hit her so bad because she was weak from brooding. I've been hand feeding her the last couple days because she can't see and stoped eating, I'm...
Hi, we just found one of the free range chicken like this, I think it might be old because there's no blood but I'm not sure? What should we do? Right now she's isolated, we hand feed her a bit but if this is old she should have been eating by herself? I'd never seen something like this, is it...
It's almost summer here so I did have several hens with eggs about to hatch, but the way the nest is placed, it would be harder to put eggs there than take them out so I took it out. I just hope they don't get sad after sitting so long to end up without any chicken 😢
Thank you! She's alive she just came out to eat and I took out the egg. Hopefully she'll come out when she notice there's no egg so I can block the access later.
Hi, so there's a hen who started laying under the porch in a hard to reach place. I used a long stick to take out the eggs, but she became broody after laying the last one. She's been sitting there over a single egg for over 30 days by now so it probably went bad. I'm afraid she's gonna get weak...
