    We are making a roosting box out of pallets. You could easily piece it together with hinges that would come apart for your winter move. Here's some pics of what my hubby has done midway for our roosting box.

    Expanding the roost WITH PALLETS!

    Hubby and I are raising up baby chicks and have two to add to the flock. Salvaged some pallets and old barn wood. All free! Here is some of the progress. Here he is sealing up the roosting box with free old barn wood!

    My husband and friend salvaged a bunch of old barn wood and fencing from a man in Mars Hill Nc. FOR FREE! Hubby surprised me with this awesome fencing and built me this beautiful gate from the barn wood. I love him.

    They named him bossy cuz they think he's the boss. We're hoping to hatch a good amount of more chicks in the spring. Keeping fingers crossed that the two in the basement are hens to add to the flock.

    My kids have named our rooster Bossy. The girls are named Angel, Sausage, Biscuit, Midnight, Betty, and Tomatoe. We hatched two babies from our Ameraucana rooster and our New Hampshire Red hen. Anxious to see if they are Roos or hens, and what they will look like being mixed.
