    Chickadee has been laying eggs for a couple of weeks. All are med sized. Yesterday she laid an Xlarge. Today a tiny one. Is this normal

    Ever really watch them lay a egg its very painfull. Ill bet the x large egg came out with blood lines too

    I did buy a 3' x 50' fencing and let them out in the morning and evenings.

    I have always kept them confined to the coop and run area because I was afraid that my dogs would go after them.

    If the dogs ever do kill 1 place the dead bird on its collar. Till it rotten .the dog will never do it agin.my large dogs learned too live close quarter. With ducks.chicken. and a potbelly pig .the dogs started protecting the chicken as if they were sheep in a Hurd

    I begin letting chickens free-range a few months ago. I watched my dogs really close but didn't need to. One peck on the nose was all it took, now the dogs and chickens get along fine. the cats tried stalking the birds but my 2 guineas took care of them.

    My younger chickens and guineas are 15 weeks old & the other 2 are about 24 weeks old.
