The Columbian rock cross in the picture above ended up being a pullet! Her comb is huge and flops (which makes me think she may have some leghorn in there). Got back from vacation and she was squatting!! We had a new egg laid yesterday, not sure who it's from by it's brown with some speckles...
I have a 13 week old CRC who is huge with a reddish comb, but no brown feathering which would indicate male. I have heard that their combs grow early and not to sex by comb growth. Can anyone tell me when do the males develop their brown feathers?
Right now I'm just waiting and watching to see...

Twice I have found 2 hens sitting in the same box together. One is a BO and the other is a SLW. It looks like the BO is in the box first and the SLW joins her (unknown if it's the same BO as we have 3, but it's definitely the same SLW. They both lay an egg :-)
Elise, one of our barred rocks, pecked my diamond earring out of my ear. We found it the next day, the post was bent. My husband had them reset for our anniversary.
In case anyone is looking, the Agway store in Waltham has laying pullets( mostly golden comets and a few black sex link) plus some older chicks (not day olds) is your looking to restock or add to your flock and not wanting day olds. I got 3 from Dan last fall and they are awesome.
