I'm watching mine now at 6am. They seem to do pretty good walking around pecking at things. It is dark but I do have a street lamp fairly close by. I can hardly see them but my leghorn are out finding food.

Here's a picture of one of the boys helping build our coop. It's 12ft x 4ft. The run is 78ft x 8ft plus the garden area in the winter. Eventually the grapes will cover most of the run for shade and snacks.

PS You can't see it very well but the $ goes in a slot at the bottom of the box and it drops into a drawer that is opened on the backside (also has a small lock but we don't lock it). We live in a small town which seems to work better with an honor system for whatever reason. We've only been...

This is what my boys and I build to sell eggs out of. We use the honor system and it's gone really well so far. It's on a somewhat busy road (goes to the dump) so they've been selling out a lot.
