WORMS, RASPY BREATHING AND SCALY LEG

Ahhh! Scaley legs/feet/beak are all caused by a mite. It burrows into the karatin (scales on legs, beak, nails, and sometimes even flesh) and lives/lays eggs there. While oils will slow it down and make the bird more comfortable, they do not get all the mites or the eggs so it comes back. Treat...

DIY CABINET COOLER INCUBATOR How we did it and TEST RUN Ready Set GO!

HA HA HA!! Money?? MONEY?? Are you kidding? I have around $50-60 in my controls. That's it! The biggest thing is the time it takes to build the cabinet. And then, adding egg turners. They aren't cheap. But, you can start with just one and add more as you need too, so it's scalable if...

DIY CABINET COOLER INCUBATOR How we did it and TEST RUN Ready Set GO!

First of all, heat rises, so you probably don't need to blow the air up off the bulbs, but that's up to you and your design. I typically take the heat and force it down toward the bottom of the bator and then let it rise on the opposite side of the bator. I shield the heatsource from the eggs...

DIY CABINET COOLER INCUBATOR How we did it and TEST RUN Ready Set GO!

I apologize, apparently that model is great on out of the box accuracy. Not all of them are. Most of the ones I have seen were off by a bit. I haven't used that model. My point is that we should not buy a device such as this off the shelf and assume it's accurate, cause it can be off by up...

Oh What have I done wrong???

You can buy a 100 thermometers and get different results from all of them. YOu need to focus on a calibrated thermometer. A digitial pharmacy thermometer is calibrated. If placed in the proper place away from the heating elements in a forced draft incubator, you will be able to accuratly...

Best tips for incubation. Getting started.

Exactly, weight loss is key. Just as or more important than humidity is the temperature. Digital pharmacy thermometer away from the heating elements on a FORCED DRAFT incubator. I can't begin to tell you what to set a still air incubator to or where and how to measure the temp. 99.5 measured...

Best tips for incubation. Getting started.

Leave it alone and relax! We have successfully hatched eggs incubated at a range of humidities. From what I can see now, we do best in our setup running completely dry until time to hatch, at which time we add the baby food jars of water to our hatcher (little giant is what we use to hatch in)...

Just make sure you calibrate your new digital controller. Almost NONE of them will be accurate when you set it up (if they are it's dumb luck). You should calibrate it with a digital pharmacy thermometer and then check it occasionally with the digital pharmacy thermometer.

Home-built incubator with Professional-quality controls on a budget!! Getting GREAT hatch rates!

Solid state relay is a non-mechanical device. It does not have ANY moving parts in it. You gotta realize, the controller pulses the output ON for fractions of a second every second to maintain the setpoint. This means the heater will turn on and off many hundreds of times per day...

Home-built incubator with Professional-quality controls on a budget!! Getting GREAT hatch rates!

Incubator design. This is my instructions. You can build the same using any materials available. I thought about my design and I thought I'd add the following info for those who are going to build it, more like how I'd suggest starting. First, I'd order the parts from the parts lists. The...

DIY CABINET COOLER INCUBATOR How we did it and TEST RUN Ready Set GO!

Very cool design, but I have some suggestions.... First, the light bulbs make a poor heat source, they are not intended to be turned on and off many times a day, they tend to fail like that. Second, the wafer thermostat.... Eek. Thermostats turn on when temp is low and turn off when...

    Exploding eggs in my incubator!

Smell your incubator vents at least every few days. Anytime you smell something bad, open the bator and find it. Don't stop till you find it and get it out. Exploding eggs are VERY bad! Now that you have a mess, you gotta get it all out or you will have more trouble. Try hydrogen...
