    Good point. I may give it another try. I was just worried with them not eating all night, they were too cold to get up and get out from under the plate.

    When they lay down there's a lot of clearance. I don't see how they're getting warm under it as is it. When i stuck my hand under it this morning there was no warmth where they had been bedded down. If I raise it up then it'll be even cooler to them since the heat isn't actually radiating out

    Actually there are quite a few posts here (on backyard chickens) regarding ducks changing sex and articles from BBC, NatGeo, and more regarding the fact that ducks can indeed change sex. I never knew it either but look into it.

I don't have children so my pets are my children and because this duck has her limitations I immediately started giving her lots of attention early...

    I wanted to clarify, my drake seems to only "pester" Adriana in the water. When she gets out he doesn't follow. Sometimes they will all 3 be in the water and no incident, but it seems like more often he is going after her neck and trying to get on her.
