    I know that they can commonly get black specs and stuff, but I haven’t seen it to this extent… is this normal? about 10 weeks old vent looks clean, but these feathers are kinda caked with something dark. is this just getting pooped on while roosting? Something else?

    Chicken 1…. Like I said, that looks rooster to me. chicken 2 I don’t have a good pic (and it’s dark). But, that looks hen to me… not much comb at all, and not very red. which is the reason I was looking at something more definitive like saddle feathers… don’t know if 10 weeks is too early though

    Ok, so... I’m using nipple waterers and a rain barrel to water my girls. Rain is collected off the asphalt coop roof. I have a 50 gallon drum. How much bleach should I be using to keep it algae/mosquito/slime free? Capful a week? Half cup per day? Wondering what a safe, effective dose...

    My olive egger is just over 3 weeks old. Any guesses on the final color? She is currently mostly black, but with basically dark brown frosted tips.

    I got a sweeter heater, and the chicks love it. I got it mainly for dual-purpose reasons... I want to migrate it to the coop to help take the chill out when it gets sub zero in winter.

    Euthanizing predators

    Some guy I know used starter fluid and a wooden bat to take care of a skunk. seal in a bag, spray in a healthy amount of starter fluid (ether) and it will knock them out. Then, you can knock them hard over the noggin and they go peacefully in their sleep (and, without spraying)
