6 week old chick being picked on

Hi there, thanks for your reply. They are all the same age, I got two silkies, two polish and some americanas and a couple black copper marans. I did not realize the difference in breeds might cause an issue. Someone told me that silkies and polish are less dominant breeds so therefore they get...

6 week old chick being picked on

There are 12 and they are in a 4x6 transition coop before they go in their big coop. Our weather here Idaho is still a little cooler, so I'm waiting a little bit to put them in their big coop. They have a roost in there and there is some dirt to take dust baths, what else would they need?

6 week old chick being picked on

Hey there, I have six week old chicks that seem to be picking on one in particular. She has blood on the side of her face, and others seem to be packing at her. Since she's so young I'm concerned about isolating her that she won't get enough warmth. What would you guys do? I do have a hen who...

    Funky fermented feed

The feed was at the top of the jar, then sunk down. I think I'll toss it, it's not looking good.

    Funky fermented feed

There are some bubbles, just not like normal fermentation.

    Funky fermented feed

Hello everyone, I have started my first batch of fermented food for my chickens. It's on day 4 and the smell is a little yeasty...and a little funky. It's part feed, part corn, part oats. I'm not convinced that it hasn't gone bad, there isn't a lot if fermentation happening and I did neglect to...

    Egg size may vary...

I can't see any egg shells in the box, but some yolk on the side of the box. As far as the little egg, there was only white, no yolk.

    Egg size may vary...

That makes sense. Wjen i got them, i was told that these chickens were all over a year, so I didn't anticipate new layers. Lol.

    Egg size may vary...

So, we have an interesting egg collection today. Thoughts? For perspective, the egg on the right is our average size, the other two are not what we normally see. Plus there's yolk on it and I can't see any breakage in the nesting box. Reasons? I also have a chicken who who has been laying eggs...

Azithromycin for chicken with possible egg rupture? pics inluded

Nevermind all, she is gone. Just went out and she has passed. Wish I could have done more, but she went pretty quick. I will learn from this and perhaps be better prepared on the chance it happens again. Thank you all for your help, I sincerely appreciate gleaning from your expertise and...

Azithromycin for chicken with possible egg rupture? pics inluded

Ok, this is what I think I am going to do, although I am not sure it will work as she is getting worse by the day. The packet is 200mg for 10gal of water. If she needs 20mg per day, I will divide the packet by 10 and put 1/10 of it in 1 gallon of water. She is not wanting to eat or drink now...

Azithromycin for chicken with possible egg rupture? pics inluded

So the saga continues...I got the erythromycin (its all i could get asap) and its in a packet...because it's for fish and it goes in their water. So, I'm researching how to give it to them (in their water? In water and in a syringe?) Any thoughts?
