    Hatched chick with yolk sack

I had a young bantam sitting on eggs. Another hen went broody and took over her clutch. I moved the bantam and a few eggs to a different nesting box and this morning, found one of her eggs with most of the shell picked off. I put the chick in my incubator and removed the rest of the shell and...

    Pullet sitting oddly

Any ideas what’s going on here? She is sitting on her rump, not wanting to move much but she can walk. None of my others are acting this way.

    Any ideas what he is?

I got some Silkie and supposedly Sizzle chicks last year. This is what one of the roosters looks like. He has bred with my Silkie hens and the chicks look just like a Silkie except they have pink feet. Any ideas on what he may be or may be crossed with? Thanks in advance!

    Rooster and pullet?

They are both silkies. He/she is not that much smaller than he is.

    Rooster and pullet?

I have a mature Silkie rooster that has been trying to breed with a Silkie that is only 13 weeks old. Does that mean it’s definitely a pullet? They all stay together, can he hurt her by trying before she’s laying?

What’s going on with my hen???

Perhaps but they’ve all been around each other since the chicks were hatched. She was in a coop next to the others so they saw each other every day and were never completely separated. I had even seen the rooster trying to mate with her last week.

What’s going on with my hen???

If this is confusing, I apologize. I’m not concerned with having to integrate the chicks. They are with a group that was not hatched by my hens. My concern is why is she not wanting to be with her flock.

What’s going on with my hen???

All of my chickens free range during the day. She has always been with a group of 5 other hens and a rooster. She kept to herself while out with the chicks which I expected but she is still keeping to herself and has no chicks now. I had to put the chicks in a brooder as it has been cold here...

What’s going on with my hen???

They are probably between 3-4 weeks. She’s not staying with her flock, she’s off alone and not even roosting with her flock at night.

What’s going on with my hen???

Not sure if this is the right group but I have a hen that hatched out some chicks a few weeks ago. Last weekend I sold a few and that left her with 2. The next day, she was leaving the chicks alone (they free range during the day) This went on all day so I stuck them in my brooder. Since then...

    Americauna?

I got these from a feed store marked Araucana. I’m positive they aren’t that but these look different than the americaunas I have. Any opinions?

Day 24, no sign of hatching

I have a broody Silkie that has been sitting, there’s one egg left. Today is day 24 and no sign of hatching, no peeping or anything. I candled it a day ago to make sure it was viable and it looks like it should be ready. The air sac is large. Is this normal for an egg to go this long? This is my...

Hens not sitting on eggs after 23+ days

In a brooder pen with 2 broody hens. One started sitting a good week or so before the other joined her. I have pulled several eggs out that were too cold to have been viable. I’m thinking it’s time for the first hen to be separated with her chicks and let the other continue sitting.

Hens not sitting on eggs after 23+ days

I have 2 broody silkies. They have been sitting on 23 eggs, I had 3 hatch over the last 2 days. Last night I found one of them sitting off the eggs. I have them in a brooder. I put her back on and again this morning, there were a few eggs pushed off to the side. I pulled 4 eggs out because they...
