We just went through a cold snap of well below zero (-16C). I initially thought frostbite, as her feet/toes were stiff & and brought her in to warm up her feet and put them in luke warm water. We kept her in for 2 days, and that’s when we noticed the swelling.
I just intensively cleaned the coop, sprayed permethrin and we treated the chickens with it as well. We did ivermectin previously as well (2 treatments a month ago). I didn’t dose the girls though today.
She is on egg layer feed, with occasional meal worms, corn for the winter (last feed of the day), and oats as treats, but about every third day. We hatched and raised our hens at home, but due to city regulations we board them 40 minutes away. We visit them every 2-3 days to care for them, and...

$180-500. Our vet is trying to arrange for someone to do the surgery about 5 hours away. My daughters friends and community have raised $210 so far, if the surgery goes ahead.
Flower is still alert and wants to be near us at all times, but doesn’t want to drink today. She pecks a little at apple...
We are doing our best to help her. She’s such a cuddle bug. She snuggles between my daughter and I while we sit with her
My 11 year old daughter is doing everything she can to raise money for surgery, so who knows? The vet was amazed at how sweet and cuddly she is. She still has will to live...
