This is so strange. I had the exact question recently! I got a pair of Russian Orloff pullets that were hatched in August 2020, I got them November 15. They supposedly also had the same hatch date yet one was so much bigger and had a muff and the other one was smaller with no muff. I was...
I just got two Russian Orloffs and they are about 5 months old so looking forward to the eggs, thank you for posting the picture! I have never seen the eggs before.
Thanks, have read that particular past many many times. 😊. I have a wealth of head knowledge but sometimes you just need to observe your own animals and add to that book learning! It’s all good, just waiting and being patient.
Thanks, I was just commenting on the previous posted since I was having similar issues. It’s been 6 days since I brought the new ones in so I’m going to give them more time together now. I did decide to put in another roost as my new chickens are sleeping in a nest box and I want to break that.
I’m currently introducing two 14 week olds to my three 8 month old hens. The two young ones are also terrified of the older ones because they get chased and pecked, but the pecking isn’t vicious and no blood. I haven’t let them stay together unless I’m watching them. Sigh. I just wish the...
I am having a similar debate about a 13 week old orloff that does not have saddle feathers of a curved tail.... yet. I got two Russian Orloffs, purchased as hens, this weekend, born August 11 I was told, from a very reputable farm that made a delivery to my area this weekend as they are 4.5...
Yes he is so gorgeous! I have someone who said they would take a rooster if I got one, a former co-worker that I used to buy eggs from. He’ll be in good hands on a small farm. Maybe I can visit!
First time chicken raiser here. I raised this Ameraucana as a several day old chick in mid March, this week is week 12. She grew much larger than all the other 4 chicks (2 Speckled Sussex, 1 Polish crested, 1 Barnevelder) and is now the most dominant of the flock but not mean, just seems more...
This person has built and sole hundreds of coops in the area over the past 6 or so years, he has an excellent reputation and I’m going to trust those two things.
I think the coop area is elevated inside so the nest boxes are actually lower than they look here. I’ll find out for sure. My neighbor has one and the boxes are lower.
Well I placed my order and it will be delivered next Saturday! It is a coop with a walk-in short run. I’m a little worried about getting it through the fence but hopeful. I have a 40” wide gate. If worse comes to worse a fence panel could be removed.
This is similar to the one I’m getting...
