    Malformed foot

And we have another hen sitting on duck eggs. (She's a biter, no sense trying to take them) so I can look forward to that as well. Both the remaing chicks still are healthy and seem normal. :)

Thanks. It's a first for me. Yes, they are mixed chicks. The other 2 are doing well though so that's good at least.

    Malformed foot

Passed away an hour ago. I had a chance to inspect it a bit more afterwords, it had no scales on its leg, it's foot, leg and hip all on the same side were deformed. It's little wing on the same side was also deformed. :( I can only assume it's insides were deformed as well. It's a miracle it...

    Malformed foot

It appears (for the moment) to be in no pain. Should I just let nature take its course? :( and I've named it feisty the chick. :/

If it survives, yes, we will keep it. It's hard to tell what breed she is, we have quite the barnyard mix. I suspect other problems as well, her bottom looks different, bulgy is the better word for it. :/ otherwise she's peeping and lively.

    Mystery plant

I've got this plant growing in my garden. It's kinda pretty but it appears to have a spiky kinda fruit growing on it after the big white blossoms that appeared last week. Any ideas what it is? I need to know in case it's harmful to my chickens and ducks.

And sad news to report. :( the hen who rejected her chicks from last year just killed her egg that pipped. I allowed her to set on 2 eggs and I gave her as much privacy and quiet as possible. I thought I may have made her nervous last year so I did things quite differently with her this year. I...

My neighbors would LOVE that! Lol! No, I'll need to find them new homes. Not quite yet though. I'll enjoy them for a bit longer.
