Do you know what breed the one in the 4th picture is? One of our chicks looks just like it and I have no idea what ours are.

These chicks are more breeds than I can count. :b she might be a barred rock, then again she could turn out to look more like her black sexlink mama. I will know more as she feathers out. For now, no idea.

They're pretty young, but I think you're correct.

If you end up with too many roosters for your hens, you can start a rooster flock.

My neighbors would LOVE that! Lol! No, I'll need to find them new homes. Not quite yet though. I'll enjoy them for a bit longer.

And sad news to report. the hen who rejected her chicks from last year just killed her egg that pipped. I allowed her to set on 2 eggs and I gave her as much privacy and quiet as possible. I thought I may have made her nervous last year so I did things quite differently with her this year. I only allowed 2 eggs under her. I noticed yolk in the nest earlier so I took a look and she had killed it already. The other egg is ok, it will be put under a difficult hen tonight (I hope she'll accept it) this hen is done. I'm thinking about selling her as a meat bird.
