This is a great thread! I will definately be using DE. I have never tried using AMDRO that way but it sounds like a great idea. I wonder if Basic H works on wasps as well.
When we first got them we had yellow jackets drinking the chicks water. That freaked my wife out, but one of the chicks...
without a picture that is pretty hard to figure out. I thought you were talking about a musical instument from the thread title. I hope she will be alright. Maybe it was just something wierd she ate.
My chicks are about 6 weeks now. I was supposed to have 3 hens and a rooster. Two have wide combs, one has a smaller comb and the last has almost no comb at all. Three of them have tail feathers and one (with a wide comb) has almost nothing for tail feathers.
I guess I need to wait longer.
very good post and so true.
I was nodding my head on nearly everything in the list and I just started six weeks ago.
edited to add:
my first coop will NOT be big enough!
I have three hens and a rooster. My thoughts on naming them was after Charlie's Angels, then the Dixie Chicks. A few others came to mind as well but we ended up calling them
Uther
Morgaine
Igraine
Gwenyfar
I know, wierd huh. I think Charlie's Angels was a good idea but the names were too normal.
I see there are a number of folks from Leander here. I know some of my neighbors here in Leander have chickens because I hear the roosters in the morning. That is part of the reason I decided to start doing it.
I'm learning as I go with four 6 week old australorp chicks.
I didn't know what...
