    We're up and running! I had my son turn the bator on at noon today. We've got 18 Black Astrolorps, 15 SLW and 11 Swedish Flower.

    I've got babies!!!! This was my first hatch and they came the day before I was expecting them. They are blue/black/splash Orpintons and they are adorable! Now we're just waiting for the Hatch-Along!

    We went on lock down today! I've got the humidity up and the temps have been perfect in the Genesis 1588 during the entire incubation period. I took the egg turners out and was looking in the window and saw 2 of the eggs moving!!

    This is my first hatch and lock down starts tomorrow! I'm using a Genesis 1588. I saw a post a while back where someone put little holders (I think made out of paper towels) in their incubator for the chicks to hatch in. Is that necessary? Seems like it would help with clean up but I'm not...

    I go on lock down Tuesday. I'm down to 4 eggs from my original 10. I saw movement in 2 of them this week. Looking forward to my first hatch next weekend!!

    It's day 16 and I'm down to 4 eggs from my original 10. They are all Blue/Black/Splash Orpintons. (None of the Lavender Orpington eggs were fertile) Of the 4 in there I'm sure I have movement in 2 of them. It was so exciting the first time I could see movement! Lockdown in 2 days...

    I thought the same thing when you said 'red ring of death'. I've got a few teenagers in the house and one thing I never want to hear is 'MOM.....MY XBOX HAS THE RED RING OF DEATH!!!'. This is usually followed up by several days/weeks of frustration and repairs.
