Ok, this will be my last update! The quail are doing excellent! I thought I was feeding 24%,but I was only feeding 22%, so I bought some 24% but it's only available in smaller, more expensive bags where I live.i added a game bird chick treat that had extra vitamins and minerals (not much protein...
Update: I know it's only been 1 day, but a few of the quail have started becoming more active. I've even seen a few of them jumping up and fluttering around ( I call it popcorning! Lol) a few of the really lethargic ones I gave some nutridrench to directly into their mouths.(I only gave 1 drop)...
We had been burning the bodies, but the necropsy is a good idea. I need to research local places that can do them.i know I've had UK so a necropsy of some chickens before, but I'm unsure If they'd do one for quail.
Oh, it's definitely ataxia. But I'm just wondering what's causing it. It's so weird that the last batch I had was perfect and I'm doing all the same things, but this group has had all the issues. This was the a group from new hens though. So I wonder if it's just genetics? I am trying vitamins...
That's ok! But, I decided to upload the video of them to my tiktok account if you'd like a good representation of their symptoms:

I use non medicated feed. It's the 24% Dumor game chick starter.
I don't know if this will help, but I finally got a video and I uploaded it to my tiktok. here's a link:

And there is no poultry vet local unfortunately.
Not panting at all. They are actually all wanting to be close to the light or halfway between the warm and cold ends. There is a cooler side to the brooder so they can escape the heat, but many of them refuse to leave the warmer side. I was expecting to have the heat minimized by now but with...
I ended up getting some generic poultry vitamins and I'm adding them to their water. I'm alittle worried I may over supplement though. I bought nutridrench and durvet vitamins. Do you happen to know if these are any good?
They are in a giant water through with 2 foot tall sides, but they are in a metal building. They are kept away from all my other birds and plants and stuff. I also keep them on pine shavings. And I clean their waterer and feeder daily.
I'm glad you told me about amprolium. I was just doing what...
Sorry, I misread the question. When I had the first group die off it was around the low 60s which made me think a draft got in or I wasn't providing enough heat for so many chicks. So that's when I supplemented heat. But it's been in the 70-80s lately, even at night. The fall weather is strange...
I'm actually starting to think they may have a vitamin deficiency of some sort. I've tried to attach a video of some of their symptoms, but it won't let me. They walk slowly and uncoordinated and then flop over for a bit, but then they right themselves. But they are quiet and don't fly around...
Hello! I am starting to raise Coturnix quail and I am so excited. I started with 3 dozen hatching eggs from a local breeder and I raised them all with no big issues. They reached maturity this summer and I ended up hatching out 60 chicks from them. However I am now running into some issues I...
For the last year I have hatched out 4 sets of eggs. Around 20 in each batch. All eggs are fertile and growing till lockdown, then over 95% of them die before even hatching, with usually 2-3 days late hatching for the ones who do make it. I have set multiple humidity gauges and temperature...
