My little flock of 4 hens is moving in later this month so I'm in the process of building their coop and enclosed run. Both will have a solid roof. I'm not sure yet how the weather is going to affect the ground of the run so for now it'll just be dirt with patchy grass. When I want to give the girls veggie scraps, do I just toss them onto the ground for them? Or should they have a separate holder for food like that?
