Snowkitten714 thanks for all the great ideas! I wish I could let them into my garage but it's hotter in there then the coop will be lost if the time haha. But still all great ideas!

    Desert chickens, will need coolness!

Yeah, it can and does get over 100 here on the bad days. I though about maybe a mist-we system but figured too much moisture is bad. I think I might put in a fan

    Desert chickens, will need coolness!

Hello! I am wondering if anyone has any tips on how to keep chickens cool in the hot summers of the Mojave Desert. My wife and I are going to get chickens in the fall, but I'd like to prepare for it in our coop for when the summer heat comes back around. Thanks in advance!

    New Future Chicken Owner!

Good advise! We plan on getting a rhode island red, black australorp, buff orpington, white leghorn and one more I can't remember. A good mixed flock. Only thing stopping it is If any of them are heat intolerant, as we live in the desert. But our nearest hatchery is only 25 minutes away, so the...

Just wanted to say Hi to everyone and see if anyone had any great pre-chicken purchase advice! My wife and I just bought our house and plan on having a garden and a chicken coop right next to it for easy access to move chicken "fertilizer" to the garden. That's about it though! Been doing lots...
