I totally understand throwback but the mystery is why in just 2 weeks the entire hatching changed phenotypically ?
I am entertaining the thought that the cock was only breeding one hen then decided to swap up :)
The next few hatchings will rule out error by egg gatherer which would have to be...
It is weird though that they changed 100% in just a few weeks. There are none showing the old hatch's traits at all. I would think that using the punnett square that there would be some of the older hatch's coloration along with a different one perhaps but not 100% different.
This hatching was...
I am hoping that is the reason as we do not know the history of the birds and are dealing mainly with phenotype s. Yes we definitely have clutches that are mainly or all one sex during the year from other birds.
We have hatched about 30 in 3 hatchings so far.
I am just wondering if temperature...
We have been breeding a new serama line for a while now. We crossed the black cock with a scant scattering of red feathers in his hackles and saddle over an all black hen w/white earlobes and got stags with more colored feathers in hackle and saddle than cock and pullets all dull black with no...

Sometimes nature gives you lemons. In my case where I work on call 24/7/365 1/4...... Nature seldom gives me lemons :) Here are current weather conditions in Port Lavaca, Texas.
UPDATE 8-23-17:
First hatch chart. We lost.,... yes I mean actually lost one bird this week! No earthly idea what happened to it! We are installing a game camera to find the culprit. It has to be a snake or a rat????? We missed weighing them yesterday and the week 4 "brown" weights include only...
They were born on 7/30/17 so about 3 weeks tomorrow. We so seldom hear a crow but are not early risers either :) Thaks for the info and I will look at that page now
Hi,
We hatched a set of eggs that contained jumbo pharoah and Texas A&M and got this little fella. Not sure wht he is but is different than the rest. Do you see any males in this video?
8-15 update for first hatch:
Whites are 3.10 ounce at 17 dys and jumbos are 3.74 ounces same date born..
We moved them onto 1x1/2" wire 2 days ago and they are going outside tomorrow!
Here is a better chart as it does not show the total bird weight in case we do have a mortality:
Weird tho...
It definitely has to be removed. Try warm mineral OIL. We had that happen to mostly chicks. I am assuming the results would be the same if not corrected. Eventually the poop can back up and cause infection through irritation and from rotting feces back into the rectum. Most will recover if...
