    Large run ideas

So we just bought 4.5 acres and moved our 5 chickens that are set up in a temp run with their old coop and we have 7 other chicken that came with the place that have a very "ghetto" setup that is pretty pathetic. The next outdoor project is going to be making a decent run with a good coop for...

Sudden chicken death, help find cause

Thanks guys. Wish I had gotten your post earlier casportpony, I went ahead and disposed of her already. If I had known that I would have probably done it, but just didn't have the time to figure out where and how to get her looked at. Now I know! I talked to a friend of ours that knows her...

Sudden chicken death, help find cause

The possum wasn't actuall in the run. It was on the fence and it was already dark. No signs of entry at this time. No visible physical wounds or damage. Need to do more investigation in the morning when it's light again. I hope it was something physical though and not something contagious.

Sudden chicken death, help find cause

So our chickens are about 9 months old or so and have been very healthy and no issues thus far. Then tonight suddenly one is dead. keeping chickens cool in summer heat

In my part of Cali summer is rather warm and have our spells of 100+. This past week we were 110 for a couple of days and 103 or more pretty much the rest of the week. I did much of what is mentioned here. They are in complete shade and can go under the coop, but that's not enough. I wet the...

So here are a few pics of how I hang my cabbage. Works great and they love it. Six of them will destroy a large head in two days no problem. Hope this helps.

    Heat control

Haha. I had set that up temporarily when I moved them out of the brooder and into the coop before I built the run. It was starting to get hot and the coop was getting over 100 inside and while I do like roasted chicken, I prefer to make it in a different fashion. They are now out in the shaded...
