    Finally posting some pics!

Initially, we painted their nails different colors...although we are still doing that until we get them leg bands, we each spend enough time with our hens each day that we can recognize their subtle differences! Also, all each of us has to do is put our hand in the brooder, and our chick will...

    Coop roofing advice...

I appreciate all of the advice! As I've mentioned before, this is probably the best forum, for any subject matter, that I've ever participated in! Anyhow...here in Maryland, we have scorching hot/humid summer, and bitter cold winters (ice is usually more of an issue than snow)...we live on the...

    Roof design

Haha...well, I can't go back and rebuild... I am going to install a 1x3 base to the top of the front wall, providing a slight elevation, and then install traditional rafters with a plywood roof...I'm still searching for some tin, or I may go with shingles...we'll see...

    Roof design

I am constructing a coop from scratch, using primarily reclaimed lumber...as you can see from the pic, I have finished the platform and framed the walls...I have never constructed a roof, and I would like some advice on the most simple method of doing so...it by no means needs to be...

I have read through this forum and found several answers to my questions, but I wanted to post my own thread and see what comes of it! We have 5 white leghorn chicks...they are 2...

Feeding chicks mealworms as a treat...

Newbie question...we are raising 5 white leghorns...they are a week old and doing great! It's surprising how quickly they grow! I would like some advice from more experienced owners...we would like to begin giving them treats on a daily basis, which I understand from this forum can be done at...
