    Blue Andalusian cockerel or hen?

I have to blue andalusians, both hens and just started laying about a week ago. One matured very fast and had a HUGE pink comb early on. Her sister was slower. I think their combs are both STILL growing, they are just massive sized for the size of bird they are. Plus I believe rooster...

This chick just showed up in our yard

An update on the little one, which we named Popcan. We found two bite wounds, one on her chest and one under her wing. Tiny teeth marks, so I'm thinking a cat or a possum perhaps. I'm thinking about 3 weeks old or so. We've never had a single chick before, it's just crazy. She...

This chick just showed up in our yard

One more that showed up in our yard. This one has been running around the neighborhood for a few years. We finally caught her, she has leg mites which we've been treating. She's been here about 2 and half weeks. I at first thought she was an old English game bantam, but now I'm wondering if...

This chick just showed up in our yard

This little guy was running around our back yard this morning. We let our chickens out and he was peeping and running from them. Haven't found the neighbor it may of came from yet. He's got a wound on his chest which we cleaned and put poultry vetericyn on. He's also got sticky stuff on...

do you have any poultry drench? I'd give them a little. Have you tried putting marbles in their water? they are usually attracted to shiney things. Good luck.

You can't really judge stupidity by knowledge you are born with. otherwise...well humans are like one of the most stupid things walking. Turkeys have to be taught.

    Chicken Swallowed My Earring???

They do love shiney things. They are also surprisingly strong. My daughter lost her diamond stud that way. The chicken was fine, but we never did see the earring again. Though my dog likes to eat their poo...and the birds eat his...ahh the cycle of poo. I would think the biggest danger...

I haven't clipped wings yet on Knothead. But I''m prepared to if he starts going over fences to visit neighbors. So far he seems to want to stay close to the chickens and my only naughty chickens are my blue Andalusians who have their wings clipped. At night he has been showing interest in...

I bet a lot has to do with where you were raised. I got bit by a chipmunk when I was a kid and my Mom freaked out totally and brought me into the doc who had to reassure her that we haven't had a rabies case in many years and there was no need for the shots. I love bats too. Very good for...

The only sorta dangerous snake we have is the pacific rattler. They don't seem to come into homes, or bother livestock so it's not really an issue. I did mistake one for a gopher once and it gave me a bit of a fright. I tossed that one as far as I could when I noticed the rattle on it. If I...

I thought it was just me that noticed a huge increase in snakes. It's just gopher snakes I'm seeing, so nothing to worry about. I actually like them, good rodent control and I like to catch them. They get all upset and pretend to be a rattler.

That's too bad about the fawn. The dog boys are seeming tight, perhaps tighter than Lump was with his buddy howard who he had known for over 10 years. Our animal control here are awesome folks. They work hard to find homes for their dogs. Knothead is awesome. Hope he stays happy as part...

How old is the turkey? I only have Knothead and he's young. So far he loves the chickens, I think he believes he's one. He is terrified of our head hen though, she's a small polish. The rest he's tight with. We are in the process of building a run for him though just in case there is any...
