    Soap Makers Help!

Are their any soap makers in Alaska on this forum? My brother lives in Wasilla and is having a hard time finding lye. He tried to get it through Amazon, but they won't ship it to Alaska. He's tried hardware stores and other places. Any ideas on where he can get some?

Things You Wish You Would Have Known?

We can not have a rooster where we live. I wish I had known that when I put 3, 1 day old chicks under my broody hen to raise, that one of my other hens would decide that she had to turn protector and start crowing. Also I did not know what great helpers :/ they would turn out to be in the...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

[ Maybe he won't be so noisy. You could decrow him.:sick There are forums that tell you how to do it. I live by a golf course so they have to be quiet. I only have 3 now. Over 2 years I have gotten rid of 9 roosters, 1 hen that started crowing and 3 other hens that were very loud.

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hi MisfitMarie, I live in salmon creek and had the same question when I got chickens. I found this web site, www.clark.wa.gov. Go to the community development page, the click on Animals and Pet box, then click on urban livestock and chickens, also check out Report animal cruelty or Nuisances...

You might try putting a little mirror in with her. Mine loved looking at themselves. Also if you do get another pullet I don't think you'll have trouble getting rid of her. Everyone wants pullets. :D

    Avian Flu - Washington State

Unfortunately my husband will not take our lab for a walk down the road. He will keep him out of the water for now, but he does take him off leash to work him and let him run in fields. The geese and seagulls around here land in fields, school yards, anywhere there is open land. I am also very...

    Avian Flu - Washington State

I'm worried about my few chickens. They have a covered run and coop, but free range in our backyard. We have flocks of geese fly over in the mornings and in the evenings, never landing in our backyard or the surrounding area. Can they spread the avian flu just by flying over your place? Can our...

    *Buff Orpington Thread!*

Hi all. My brother sent me some pictures of a chicken that he was told was a cockerel when he got it 8 weeks ago. It's now 10 weeks old. He also doesn't know the breed, but I think it's a Buff Orpington, it looks a lot like mine. I think it's also a pullet, but I was hoping to get someone...

    What are you baking now?

Sure but it will be tomorrow. I can private message you several different baked goods that are sugar and grain free. I found I have a knack for them, oddly enough. What flours can your brother not have? Well, I called him and he said, sprouted wheat flour and any nut flour. Thank you ahead of...

    What are you baking now?

Hi Erinszoo, Could you please, please post the recipe? My brother is a diabetic and has allergies, so he can't eat to much sugar, certain flours, or to much dairy. Needless to say the desert I made for him on his birthday was barely edible.

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Solid colors are harder to tell but the comb is looking rather masculine on the blue one. Add in those hefty legs and I suspect you have all boys. Man, that sucks. Looks to me like they are all roosters. Thank you all. I was hoping the ameraucana was a hen with masculine features. Can a...
