Thank you all for the advice! We will be abandoning the old coop and setting up a new one in a completely different area though our last chickens were free ranged and we will disinfect the soil in the new area.
what is everyone’s perfected method of disinfecting after a diseas outbreak? Specifically with an unknown resoiratory disease. We have no birds left from the flock and want to start a new flock. We are just going to bring in a few birds to a temporary coop and see how they do.
Thank you. It’s heart breaking. I’ve worked so hard on this flock. I keep a pretty closed flock unless i bring in birds from reliable sources and always implement quarantine. I guess they heard that they were going to a show in few weeks and decided they didn’t want to go. Oral and I jectables...
My flock has suffered from a respiratory disease. We have not tested to see which one it is yet. The last egg I got from them was August 6th. All my girls are under 2 years. I really noticed symptoms August 18th after we got some rain(we don’t get much rain where we are). Should I cull the...
I also have this pullet who has some grey in her breast. I’m sorry it’s jot the best picture, but how hard is this to breed out? Should I cull her or is it not that big of a deal in the standard?
I just noticed my cockerel has some predominately white tail feathers wth barring at the ends. Is this a disqualification? Or will this hopefully molt out?
Thank you all for your responses. We started treating with tylan50 but it’s just not working out with treating 50+ chickens twice a day! Have any of you used the soluble powder? This would be much easier for us but I want to make sure I get the right one and hopefully one that isn’t $50+ if...
Thank you for the info! Would the lab be able to just send me a test for me to do at home or would it be a draw blood and send it off type of thing? So if it is mg, most likely the birds will need to be culled? I can’t believe this is happening! Is there anything I can give to future...
How the heck does a closed flock get respiratory infection? I’m not exactly sure which specific infection it is. They sneeze a little bit during the day but at night is when you can really hear the gurgling when they breath. They do have nasal discharge but no other symptoms, they eat/drink/and...
