Would love to know how your birds have turned out. Have they remained calm and laid back? I'm also wondering about the size of their combs (I live in VT where frostbite can be a problem).
Do you think they would fit in with a backyard flock of mixed heavy (and docile) breeds?
For all of those chickens that turn their beaks from shredded carrots, I have found the trick: mix some flower or cornmeal in with the carrots and your chickies will devour the healthy snack with a vengeance.
I don't know anything about the breed, but Yogi sure looks stately with his tail. At that age the boys are still growing and it is very likely that the tails and combs of the others will follow suit.

It is supposed to get real cold the next few nights (down to 0 degrees). My 7 girls and 1 roo are in an insulated and draft free coop and have done very well so far. We have had nights in the lower teens and they did fine, but I have been wondering how much cold they can take.
