I have some betadine in my chicken toolbox. It seems like it is probably a double hernia. One side has gone down a bit and the other chicks and keets seem to be leaving her alone. Thank you all for the kind, thoughtful advise. Hopefully she makes a full recovery. :fl
Thanks. I put her back late last night because she seems fine otherwise. I have noticed that like the picture, her bottom is always wet. It seems like whatever it is is weeping clear fluid.
I have peck no more too. I have not seen any picking yet but she seems vulnerable from both sides. My main concern is that it is not the vent. I ordered a few chicks from a hatchery and they came in at 630 am eastern time. I checked each one for pasty butt and a general once over before...
It is so weird. She is acting normal and is upset to be alone. I was thinking to blu-kote her and put her back. I am hoping someone else has seen this.
This day old has matching protrusions on either side of her vent. No pasty butt. Vent seems clear. She has been moved away from the other babies as I have never seen this before and picking will probably be inevitable. I have raised over 200 chickens. Any ideas?

Update: so here we are a month later, here are today's pics.
So I couldn't see the color too well so I rubbed some vetrx on the comb. So I don't see too much change. So I think pullet but please tell me if you think I am kidding myself. Thanks again all.
Well he was culled about a month ago, and there seemed to be something wrong with it like maybe it was broken at some point and healed. He never seemed like he was in pain though. Thanks for posting. I had defiantly considered the same thing too. I wish I had taken a pic of what it looked like...
Is there any way to speed the fermenting of pumpkin? My girls love fermented pumpkin but not regular ripe pumpkin. Could I throw the innards of pumpkin into my ferment bucket? I really don't want to just throw it in the compost. Also how long would it take in a bucket and how should I start it...

Anybody know if I can sprout pumpkin seeds? I would imagine you could but maybe they will only grow in soil? I got a package for 50 cents thinking the chickens would like them they won't touch them unless they are fermented and even then that is the last thing they clean up. Any thoughts? Thanks:)
I am not totally clear on what you mean by split one side. Like cut it? I think as long as they are not stacked on top each other they should be fine for growing. I hope I will be able to get the root mat out and off the materials. Thanks for the tip on the aluminum pans, I was thinking if this...
Thanks for sharing your expertise Kassaundra. I considered sending you a pm cuz I had a feeling you would know.;) I soaked wheat last night and used one of each kind of bag I had to see what works. I hope to get all the kinks worked out before the NH winter. I have sprouted many things in...
