    I should also mention the piece of flesh isn't fresh. It's clearly dried and honestly reminds me of human belly buttons and umbilical cords before they fall off, like a piece that didnt disconnect when he hatched. It doesn't appear herniated but I could be wrong.

    I have a chick (of a chicken) not wanting to stand up properly. He's a few days old and was walking fine up until about 12 hours ago. He kind of sits or "stands" on his knees when he is startled by the other babies moving around him, but otherwise is laying down. Not splay-legged, his joints...

    I have a Cayuga duckling who hatched about 18 hours ago and still has difficulty standing. It reminds me a lot of a baby quail I had that had wry neck or "star gazing" where it struggles to keep it's head up or maintain it's balance. It was an assisted hatch since it hadn't progressed for 2 days...

I've brought birds to them before and the solution has always been to euthanize, even though I've found ways to fix them at home and they're fine now. I'm hoping this is the same.
