we actually moved her and the chicks out of the that coop and rat proofed it. no deaths after doing that so i'm pretty sure that she wasnt killing them.
I moved them all out together into a large plastic storage box. I have set a camera up in their coop to see if anything shows up.
No deaths this morning
they are in with their mum shes a lemon cuckoo oprington so plenty big enough.
i have very thoroughly checks all the dead chicks and found no lice.
i also dont understand how i only find 1 dead every morning.
I have a broody hen that hatched out 12 chicks.
every morning i go in their coop there is always one chick dead. we are now down to 7 chicks left.
this hen is all by herself with her chicks, she is a great mum and doesnt attack them. all chicks have been found dead in the morning, however are...
the rooster is lovely but my hen is nice but stands her ground. i tried to put her in my main laying flock but she was such a bully i had to remove her. i have no doubt she will protect them. but i know i will be devastated if he attacks the chicks.
i was thinking of keeping him in a separate...

i normally...
I have 2 serama breeding pens.
1 pen consists of 5 hens and 1 rooster and the other one has 8 hens and 2 roosters.
both pens have been next to each other for 4 months so they have already got used to each other and no longer fight between the fence.
i would like to merge the 2 pens into one...
ok so my conclusion is that she must have perosis (slipped tendon). i am going to put both legs into their correct position and vet wrap them to keep them like that. i have made a sling for her to be in. this is my last resort so fingers crossed that this works
Update
So I treated the chick as if she had splay leg as her toes are a little curled and her feet wide apart. She manages to get up for short periods but her legs are still very bent. Her hocks have also got a little swollen as she was leaning on them alot. I have been giving her vitamin b2...
