But is it possible that because it's a cross, the comb may come in faster than other hens? My red stars had combs early on, and they were fairly bright red, but they were hens. And just as a general question.. when a pullet's saddle feathers are starting to grow, do they start out round as soon...- mlmcmurdy

Good grief guys, I am having the worst luck with my chickens. I posted yesterday about two barnevelder roosters (who were supposed to be hens) I got from auction, and now ANOTHER one seems like it's actually a cockerel! It's possible that they are a mix.. I'm completely unaware of their origins besides bernevelder written on the box they came in with.
