They are here!!!!!! It was a long, long, long night. Really cant stress how long lol. All three hatched, and are apparently healthy, eating and drinking. I was up all night, but it was sooo worth it! This is technically day 26, so they are two days early!!! They are all strong, and very vocal :)...
Not yet.. they are starting to zip.... i think anyways. The wait is killing me ( but then its only been 10 hours since pip) i hear it can take 36. I can see my bator when i close my eyes lol.
Some progress today. Egg 4 pipped, and egg 1 has enlarged the size of its original pip a bit. they are all still rocking around some. Man oh man, this is really wearing on my nerves, ducks are slow as christmas!!! There is certainly a big difference between this and hatching chicken eggs lol...
We have pipps!!!! I woke up this morning and looked in the bator, and two of the three are pipped!! Soo happy. My eggs are numbered 1,3 and 4. I originally had 6, the other three had detached air cells, but I set them anyway just to see if they would develop or not... they didnt, so i threw them...
This is my first experience with anconas (only had mallards that I bought as adults) :) But i have done a lot of research on them and they sound awesome! Still no pipps or anything but its still early, and they are still moving and chirping. I could be wrong (likely), and it may just be my...
ok so im so excited im probably going to ask some really stupid questions, but this is the first time i have hatched duck eggs. they are in fact starting the hatching process if i saw internal pips right? Because i hear chirps and hear near constant tapping on the shell of one of the eggs, and...
Development!!! They Have internally pipped!!!! All three of them. i can hear one chirping and actually hear it taping on the side of the shell. I understand the actual hatching process can take up to 48 hours, but man is my heart racing!!!
Hi. So quick question. In about a week ill have 11 Ancona ducklings and 7 Buff Orpington chicks, this will be my first time rearing ducklings, and i got the chicks to add "new blood" to my breeding stocks. Im going to be brooding them together ( I only have the one brooder) and I understand that...
Thanks country_girl011 :) thats reassuring. luckily my bator is clear plastic, so i can sit and stare at them. if i couldn't see inside the bator i would pull my hair out. I feel like the suspense of the next five days will kill me. . When should i start to hear them chirp? So far only movement...
Hi everyone!! I am so super excited!!! Admittedly I'm really nervous too. I have hatched lots of chicken eggs before, but never duck. About a month ago I ordered 6 Ancona hatching eggs on ebay, because of rough shipping by the USPS three of the eggs were damaged, so I set the other three in my...
