    We found homes for all the girls in the Chicago area (places with out silly restrictions) with the last ones going with the coop tonight. Thanks for all the support. It's been a rather traumatic last couple of days. I wish the government would just butt out of what I do on my property...

    Thanks for all the support and suggestions. I'm going to talk to animal control about the "raise" vs "keep" issue. If that doesn't go anywhere (most likely result) then I'll contact my councilman to see if he could help us in anyway.

    "It shall be unlawful to harbor or keep, any live cattle, swine, sheep, or goat, or to raise any chickens or other fowl anywhere in the village." How do I contact the chicken underground?

    There's an ordinance against keeping farm animals and chickens fall under that designation is what I was told.

    I have the same situation as the other post about the rhode island reds. I live in the next suburb over and my neighbor (who has a couple of really loud dogs that run around all day) called animal control on my chickens. Our 10 Buff Orpingtons have just started to lay beautiful light brown...
