    My ducks arrived this morning.

They are all healthy and active. I love them already. When I saw how small they are, I decided to go with a chick waterer for the first week or so. The pan I had fixed looked huge beside them. LOL Aren't they cute?

Would an experienced duck owner look at this?

I have day old ducklings coming tomorrow. I think I have everything ready for them. Will this work ok for a waterer for them to begin with. It is 4.5 inches high and holds 2 gallons of water, but I have added 2 bricks to keep them from getting into it at first. I know they need to be able to dip...

I am feeling a little idiotic right now.

We used to raise rabbits many years ago. I wanted to get back in to it for the meat. So I bought 2 pregnant does and a young buck. I have no plans for breeding again till fall, so the young buck was ok. I have been concerned because I thought Penny was due yesterday. Well, I did some reading and...

    Cats!!!

I love cats. I have two and both of them were dumped on us when they were kittens. I will never understand how people can dump their unwanted pets instead of finding another home for them. We took them in and they are a part of our family. Callie is my baby. She is where ever I am. I am a...

    Ducklings coming next week.

I am so excited. I heard from Cackle Hatchery and they are sending my ducklings out on June 2nd. Since I am in northwest Missouri, I hope to have them Wednesday morning. I ordered 4 Anconas, 4 Welsh Harlequins, 4 Cayugas, and 3 Fawn and White Runners. I am getting their pen ready. I received 27...

    I have baby chicks.

Wow! I am surprised. So far I have had 34 out of 50 eggs hatch. I didn't expect much since it has been so many years since I even used the incubator and had the eggs cool down to 95* during a power outage about half way through the incubation. I am very pleased. I took 13 out of the incubator on...

    I have baby chicks.

I quickly took the chicks out of the incubator this morning. I have 13 chicks that are dried off and in their brooder. I have at least 4 more out in the bator with a few more eggs pipped. I will leave these till tomorrow. I put them in a box with a light on them till they were dry and fuzzy. I...

Question about raising different breeds together

I want to order some ducklings. I can't seem to make up my mind on one breed. So I thought I would get a few Anconas, runners, Cayugas, and Welsh Harlequins. Will these breeds all get along ok together? I have to order a minimum of 15 to get them mailed to me. I want them to be good foragers. I...

    New from northwest Missouri

Hello, I have been reading this forum for a couple of months and decided to join. I set eggs in my Hova-Bator 3 weeks ago. Tonight I can here peeping. I am so excited. I have not used the incubator for about 10 years and wasn't sure it even still worked right, but I have one chick out and...
