    Looking for breed ID

I agree with golden laced Wyandotte. I don’t think the first chicken is what was suggested. She has a large white spot next to her ears and I don’t see that on them. The middle two chickens are sisters, just one is darker than the other. When they were about two months old I got them from a...

    Looking for breed ID

Hi there, Just looking for breed identification on a couple of my hens. I’ve raised them since they were about two months old, but their Hatcher didn’t know their breeds. Any help appreciated.

Tiny olive Egger chick not catching up in size

I’ve had chickens of the same breed born the same day wherein one was obviously smaller from the day it hatched. He grew to be the same size as the others, but it took several months and some maturing for him to achieve that. If she/he isn’t sickly and is still eating and drinking well, I...

    Should I be worried?

I am also new to chickens, and don’t know what this could be. I just wanted to throw in that since you can’t keep her cool with AC, I’ve read that you can freeze a can of corn or another snack chickens like inside ice trays with water and they’ll peck at it and cool down to get to the snack.

Not sure about the breed of your chicken(s)? Click here!

You have no idea how much I appreciate this! I’m on my first adventure with chickens, although this is my third batch of chicks. Initially I got 3 production blues and 2 buff orpingtons. I then bought 7 Cornish rock (one died, 4 are in my freezer and 2 are still in my flock). Then I bought these...

Not sure about the breed of your chicken(s)? Click here!

I have a few that I’m curious about. Bought them off craigslist from a high schooler doing an FFA project. I was told they’re rare/exotic breeds, but have since been led to believe they’re actually just mixed breeds. I can’t find many birds that look like them. The white bird I’ve thought maybe...

What Gender are these chickens please?

Your buff Orpington is definitely female. I don’t know the other breeds personally, so I can’t answer for them.

How to teach birds to let you hold them

I began handling mine the day after I brought them home, first once a day and then at least twice a day as they started to grow. A helpful note, try approaching them from their height; i.e. don’t swoop from above. In nature, birds are usually attacked from above and so they have an instilled...

    5 chicks, no identity

Considering I stated I’m new to chickens, it DOES come as a surprise to me. I don’t think they’re comets. I’ve been looking into those and they don’t seem to fit. One can only guess though.

    5 chicks, no identity

I agree. I’ve looked through so many pictures of chickens tonight and have come no closer to figuring them out. I don’t HAVE to know, but it’s frustrating because I WANT to know. I’m the type of owner who researches her birds to get to know them and their characteristics and what to watch for...
