My brother rescued some hens from a meat processing facility. He gave me three (2 of which came from the facility). They've been quarantined and I am slowly beginning to introduce them. I have NO IDEA what type hens they are though. I hope y'all can help! I have one bantam (not from the faculty - I don't know where he got her), one orange/red hen with dark brown plumage on her tail feathers and some dark brown markings when she stretches her wings (not on the tips though), and one darker red/brown hen with darker lacing around the base of her neck and darker brown plumage on her tail feathers (unsure about when she stretches wings. Both the big girls are BIG and have bright yellow legs and smallish waddles/combs. They're very gentle. And that bantam... I just LOVE her! So much personality. The three of these cuddle up in our temporary coop at night - it's so sweet! The bantam was laying already when we got her. The two big girls just started laying last week.

The big hens look like Buckeye mixes or maybe cornish (not Cornish X) mixes. The bantam is a Dutch bantam mix.

You have no idea how much I appreciate this! I’m on my first adventure with chickens, although this is my third batch of chicks. Initially I got 3 production blues and 2 buff orpingtons. I then bought 7 Cornish rock (one died, 4 are in my freezer and 2 are still in my flock). Then I bought these 5. I love my chickens and their personalities, and these guys have been such a mystery. Knowing what they are and being able to move forward in learning about them and caring for them means quite a bit to me. Sincerely, thank you!

New to chickens. We got six chickens from a local feed store (not sure what hatchery they use). Five of them look like what they were supposed to be, but this beautiful girl was supposed to be a barred rock. Can anyone tell us what she is? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
