    Incuview Incubator

In my experience it doesn't make any difference. They'll hatch when ready, come dark or shine.

Hatchery sexlinks versus heritage bred sexlinks?

I was wondering if Heritage bred (using 2 Heritage breeds) sexlinks were superior to hatchery sexlinks. I have 2 hatchery black sexlinks that produce nice extra large eggs...could the egg laying quality be improved? Thanks.. Mike

    Incuview Incubator

I drilled a small hole towards the top right corner of the lid and used a large syringe (the type you use for injecting seasoning into meat, chicken etc.) It held about half a cup and the needle was about 1/8" dia...it was plastic and you squeezed it. You could direct the aim easily when the...

    Are they boys?

I had a poor hatch, only these 2 from 14 eggs (shipped). I think they are boys...what do you experts think? BCMarans 8 weeks old. Thank you.

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

Thank you...I wonder if the speckling will still be apparent as she gets older. Another first...I nearly missed this one because it was almost hidden under the shavings in the nest box. Haven't a clue who laid it...longer than the Welsummer egg, but smaller in diameter and much...

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

My first Welsummer pullet egg, well actually my second...the first one I found broken, or maybe pecked, in a corner of the coop a couple of days ago. She is 27 weeks old, and I remember I had to give her special attention as a day old from MPC...I didn't think she would make it.

The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Cmom "A couple of years ago I got 15 eggs from Dick Horstman, 3 hatched 1 male and 2 females, I'm not complaining. Last spring I got some RCRIR eggs from Idaho. I am going to put a male from that hatch with the females from Disk's and the male from Dick's with the ones from Idaho. Actually they...

The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Back in July I hatched out 8 WCB Polish from a doz Dick Horstman eggs. He included 2 RC RIR of which 1 hatched with a little help from me. 14 weeks old. I started to notice he was a cut above the other production chickens, and found this thread that the late Bob Blosl had started...

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

I have 2 BA's pullets and got my first egg today. They are nearly 28 weeks old. I didn't expect them to be the first to lay, as I have a production RIR, BPRock and White Leghorn who seemed more likely to be first. I have been checking the egg box every day for a month, and this morning, to my...

    Moving house...transporting chickens

Has anyone moved house and taken their chickens with them? My daughter and her husband live in So Cal, as I do, and will be moving to Michigan sometime next year. She has asked me if I would like to move up there when they settle in. I told her I would think about it and then wondered how I...

    Re-organizing my flocks

I have built a new chicken run and want to shuffle my chickens around. My main flock consists of 14 twenty two weeks old (run #1), of which I am transferring 5 to the new run and coop. My second flock of 7 eighteen weeks old (run #2) I am transferring 4 chickens to run #1. I now have 2 eleven...
