Freeland is in Northern Baltimore County, just south of the PA line. No one has ever heard of it, LOL! Although I have to say that I kind of like it that way. :-)
As for the girls, I'm happy to say that after the 5 days of Corid and a little TLC, they are doing much better and today was...
Thanks. I started on Corid 3 days ago. Not seeing any blood in poo but chickens are still looking a little lethargic and rough around the feathers. Also, the chickens that stopped laying have not begun laying again. How long before their egg production comes back? I'm not so much worried...
What are the differences between symptoms of chickens with worms & cocci? How can you tell if your chickens have one or the other.
If the problem is cocci and you treat with Corid, how long before you see improvement in your ill hens?
Thanks!
Thanks Eggcessive - that is the dosage I am currently giving them. They have been on the Corid for 3 days but things don't seem to be improving...actually they seem to be declining. I guess that could just mean that I was too late but I am just wondering if it something else. How long after...
Hello! I posted the other day but did not get many responses and there have been some more developments so I thought I'd just start a new thread. I'll try to be brief but want to include as much info. as possible in hopes that someone can help me.
We had a flock of 10 chickens - 5 leghorns...
Hi, I had posted a thread in the egg laying forum earlier today because it appeared that several of my leghorns had simultaneously stopped laying and then, when I went out to check on them just a bit ago, I found one of them dead in the coop.
Here is a link to the previous thread with all of...
I just went out to check on them again today and found one of our leghorns dead in the coop, she had blood around her vent. I have checked the others and two of the other leghorns now have messy vents and one is very dark and looks a little bloody. Please help! What can I do?!?! What can I...
We have a flock of 10 chickens. Our 5 white leghorns from the 1st "batch" are approximately a year and 3+ months old. They have been laying without problem for about a year. We added 5 new chicks this year (2 RIR, 2 Barred Rock and 1 Easter Egger), The 10 have been merged for about 2 months...
Thanks everyone. I've tried cleaning them up again and removed a few of the feathers around the vent that were particularly "crusty". I will see how things go. So far everyone still seems healthy, no out of the ordinary behavior, etc. So hopefully this wil help.
We have 5 white leghorns that are just over a year old and 5 newer chicks that are just about 16 weeks old. We recently (about 2 -3 weeks ago) combined them. I was told to just put starter feed in the coop feeder because it wouldn't bother the older hens and it was more important for the...
We have five 1+ year old leghorns we raised from chicks last year. This year we purchased 5 new chicks (2 Barred Rock, 2 RIR and 1 Easter Egger). We kept them in the house until they were about 6-7 weeks old at which point we moved them out to the existing run.
The way our coop/run is built...
We are starting our second year with chickens and are on round two of life with chicks. Last year we got 6 white leghorns (although lost 1 to a hawk late last summer) and have had fun raising them. This year we decided it would be nice to add some color to our flock and have 2 week old chicks...
Thanks so much for the response. I've stopped giving them the scratch as regularly and things seem to have worked themselves out. I think I was probably giving them too much which was causing them to eat less of the Layena...hence, not enough protein.
We have 5 white leghorns, all of which have continued to lay throughout the winter months. We don't use any artificial lighting but they do have the ability to come and go from the coop to the run as they please (it is completely enclosed) so there are mornings that they are already up, well...
