Sorry everyone. Busy week. He is trying to drink today, he puts his head down but his beak barley touches the water and he tips back and you can see his throat working like he is drinking but he doesn't have any water in his mouth. I did notice some dirt and a mark on his neck that looks like... -

This morning we had a scare. I went out to let the ducks out of their pen. They free range during the day, and are penned up at night. I had to leave this morning and I let them out of their pen and heard a hawk call. I looked up in the trees and couldn't see anything. I stood there for a bit... -

I wondered about that with the feed stores. I like our ducks but we are thinking about selling them and starting over next year with females. Buying them sexed from Metzer. We thought we would save money this way but we don't get what we want. -

Drakes mounting drake.
I have six ducks. Two Pekins(Drake) a Khaki Campbell(drake) and three Blue Swedish(one drake two hens) I got them all as ducklings. Today I noticed the Pekins going after the Swedish drake. Grabbing onto him and looks like they were trying to mount him while of course he was trying to get away. -

I just had to share this funny thing Ming Ming does, he is a Pekin. He carries a cluster of leaves around. He will also do a little dance like he is showing his prize off to the other ducks. It is so funny. -

Dominant behavior.
Mine sound nothing like that. They still chirp. A couple times I thought one was starting to quack, wasn't very loud, sounded kinda croaky.
