    We got our easter Eggers in the spring and they have been laying eggs for a while now but only their first couple were green, now they are pale white!! What happened??

    Thank you! Our burning bush really doesn't have a whole lot of berries on it right now but they were persistent on eating something under that bush! I shooed them away twice!

    That looks like a female. Our BR rooster had curved tail feathers and was lighter colored than our female BR.

    Is sieven dust safe for chickens?

    Your welcome. Sieven dust may not be the best for them but neither is a bug infestation that you can't get rid of so to each their own! Glad it helped though! After we used sieven dust just once the grain mites we had died and we haven't had to use it since now we just use DE as a preventative.

    What is it?

    Everyone calls it an ear lobe, not sure that it looks like one though. I think it may swell or expand with temperature but that is just my guess.

    Yay! Got first egg early!!

    There ok to eat as long as they aren't cracked or anything. I would have eaten ours yesterday but it had a hole in it and I didn't want to take a chance with that. I wasn't expecting eggs till then also but we got one. It was so much healthier looking than the store bought ones!

    I put golf balls in the nest boxes last night, so hopefully the pecking wont happen again. After we got the egg we thought maybe my mother inlaw next door put an egg in the nest box as a joke but she didn't!

    Our barred rock hen sounds like a duck too!! She is our only one that sounds like that out of our other 8 hens!
