Thanks for the reply. I decided to keep the eggs in the incubator and let her sit on what she had. I do need to find someplace I can put her however so the other chickens stop kicking her out to lay their eggs in her box. I found two broken ones the other day when I shooed one of the other...
I currently have 26 eggs in the incubator that are due to hatch this coming weekend. I just discovered one of my hens has gone broody (of course she couldn't do this a couple weeks ago). Would it be too late for me to give her a few of the incubator eggs to hatch. She has never hatched eggs...
I have been toying with the idea of keeping 12 heavy breed hens and one rooster in an attempt to raise my own meat birds and still have eggs. I don't want to go with one breed because I like looking at all the different colors so I was thinking 2 hens of each breed. I know which breeds are...
Need some suggestions. My 4th chick was not doing well at hatching, had zipped but seemed stuck so after a day of keeping him under a damp towel and him not making any more progress I helped him out. Wasn't sure how he would do but I just checked on him after being gone for a couple hours he...

Well, my 15 eggs are in the incubator. Temp and humidity seem to be holding well so here goes nothing.

Okay, thanks for the input. Maybe the other hens give her a hard time. I do have another hen who seems to stay in the nest boxes longer than the others. I usually have to shoo her off after a while to collect eggs. Maybe she will be my broody hen. I'll have to watch and see.
Thanks for this info. I have a roo for the first time and it appears he has a favorite hen. She won't lay in the nesting boxes now for some reason and they had been roaming the yard together looking for a place for her to lay. He will check out a place and if it appears ok she will go in and...
I have 6 hens and a rooster (just down from 3). The rooster seems to have singled out one of the hens and I see them roaming off alone quite often. Recently she has decided she doesn't want to lay in the nesting boxes anymore. She was going in the shed until we cleaned it out, then under an...
