I have the same issue happening. I have one extremely sick chick with wet pox, and everyone else has extremely milk dry pox.
Anybody here know if the lesions of the wet pox will eventually dissipate?
Obviously only do this if the weather permits. I live in Florida and we are in full-blown summer, so the girls partly appreciate the slight mist they receive as a scolding.
haha no not at all, they just give me the stink eye since they hate being spritzed. I raised the mean girls since they were maybe 4 month old pullets. They are satin silkies which is a very friendly breed to begin with, but I doubt they will be scared. Just do it once and observe her behavior to...
I have two mean hens that no matter what I do will keep picking on my silkie. Unfortunately sometimes rehoming is the only way or just letting the bullying happen if there isn't too much of it. You can try to spritz water at them when they do. This is how I managed to get my hens to stop yelling...
I live in Florida, so it's easy for me here. They like a lot of sun and require also a lot of water due to the high intake of sun. It looks like a sprout so maybe you're exposing it to too much sun at the current moment and need to gradually get it acclimated. The picture is blurry so I can't...
I am purchasing the fowl pox vaccine and going to vaccine everyone without symptoms just in case. Even this isn't fowl pox, this scare has been a good motivator to get everyone in check.
I'll update you guys on her progress in case anyone in the future may use this thread. Hopefully, I manage...
Yea due to the bad rains, the mosquitoes have been an issue and wild birds have figured out that they can enjoy some of the chicken feed as well. I read fowl pox can come from wild birds as well.
Thank you, it's just so scary to see that huge thing in her mouth and all those scabs on her. I...
Yes there is some veins there, but a tumor could have grown this quickly within a weeks time? That's what has me ruling it out. I called all my vets in my area, and none of them take in chickens. I have a family friend that is a vet and i'm sending him pictures. Hopefully he can help out. Thank...
I'm sorry for the graphic pictures, but this is the best way to figure out what she has.
I found some more scars or scabs in her body which I showed in a pic. I checked to see if it could be a fly but I really don't think so.
She has a lot of energy, is eating which is giving me hope but I...
I don't see any movement. I've cleaned it several times and pushed to see if any pus comes out and nothing. It seems like its just inflamation. I'll be honest, I may be too gentle when cleaning since she screams in pain. I'll post more pictures soon. Thank you all for helping.
I am posting again here because I got no responses the first time and I really need advice please.
I discovered one of my chicks with her beak weird and lost it when i saw this growth that is across most of the roof of her mouth. i looked back on photos and have been able to calculate that...
She had the redness in her comb for around 2 weeks now. I figured a bug bit her and left it a bit swollen. I then worried a bit around the second week and put some antibiotic ointment on it in case. Then I have let them out every day but haven't kept close tabs on them due to heavy rains, so I...
Today i discovered one of my chicks with her beak weird and lost it when i saw this growth that is across most of the roof of her mouth. This grew all of a sudden i dont understand what it could be. No other chick is showing anything similar.
I have separated her, and in the pictures the oily...
