    First Egg Countdown

    Got my first egg today!! I was inordinately pleased in a way that only you all will understand! This is my first foray into raising chickens, and I am having a blast. Also, I had never tasted a farm fresh egg...EVER. Today was my first. My Russian Orloff, Natasha, is the proud layer of this beauty.

  5. The girls first day experiencing the great outdoors. It was so much fun watching them step on the cushy grass, tentatively at first, then more boldly. We had some intermittent busty breezes. The first one that swept through had the girls immediately squatting down in wonder. Then they got the hang of it. The pranced all around for a good 2 hours. When I brought them back inside, they all fell promptly asleep.

  14. Ahhhhh. Done!!- mostly. Still needed to put dividers in the nest boxes, and as it turns out, I had one more request. The screen area under the hen house is removable for easier access. I put in a requisition in triplicate and Power Point presentation form for 3 additional removable solid panels fashioned after the door to the hen house for the wintertime and days the girls just need more shade. I got them...pic to follow later.
